2008 DATES ANNOUNCED FOR DRIVER INTERVENTION PROGRAM
Dublin Counseling Center is pleased to announce the 2008 schedule of dates for its Chemical Assessment and Prevention Program [CAPP]. CAPP is a 72-hour program for persons arrested for an OMVI/DUI offense involving alcohol. The program serves individuals with a research-based curriculum certified by the State of Ohio as an approved driver intervention program. It is designed as an alternative to the mandatory three-day jail sentence.

Dates for 2008 are as follows:
January 3-6; 24-27
February 14-17
March 6-9
April 10-13; 24-27
May 15-18
June 12-15
July 10-13; 31-8/3
August 21-24
September 11-14; 25-28
October 16-19
November 13-16; 20-23
December 11-14

The program is held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin [formerly Dublin Clarion Hotel]. Debbie Gershel, MA, LSW, CCDCIII is the coordinator of the CAPP program. Gershel has more than twenty years of clinical experience.

Mental Health America of Franklin County Hosts Annual Children's Mental Health Conference on September 26th.
This year's program is titled "A Delicate Balance - Bipolar Disorder in
Children and Adolescents: An Evidence-Based Approach."
The daytime program for professionals will be held from 8:30 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
at The Fawcett Center, located at 2400 on Olentangy River Road. The
presenters will be Mary Fristad, Ph.D. and Melissa DelBello, M.D. Seven
CEUs have been approved for this program.

An evening program for the community will take place later that day
from 7 - 9 p.m. at the same location.

Operation Street Smart: A new A.G.E. & Internet Crimes Against Children Presented by: Franklin County Sheriff\'s Department
Operation: Street Smart: A New A.G.E. (Adult Gang Education) is a program designed to educate parents teachers, social workers, community partners and anyone with a nexus to children about current gang trends, terminology, culture and media influences. It includes a history of gangs, a breakdown of the different types of gangs and threat groups, and their criminal activities. Program participants will be able to better identify gang activity in their area, recognize its influences in their schools and community, and be empowered to help combat this growing problem.

Internet Crimes Against Children will educate parents and members of the community about online child solicitation and internet predators. There will be discussion regarding various aspects of the multitude of criminal acts associated with these individuals. Warning signs for parents to look out
for, grooming tactics used by internet predators, statistics, ways parents can keep their children safe while online will be presented. Information will be provided about what parents should do in the event their child receives a sexual solicitation or inappropriate material via the internet.
