LGBTQ Program Coordinator

Position Summary:  The LGBTQ Program Coordinator is responsible for program development, staff training and the overall integrity of Syntero’s programming to be culturally sensitive and informed regarding special needs and issues specific to the LGBTQ population.

 

Qualifications

Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field required.

License: LSW or LPC required, LISW or LPCC preferred.

Experience: At least two years of experience providing direct services, program development, staff training and supervision.

Skills:

  • Ability to provide and develop behavioral health services, ability to communicate articulately and effectively, possesses a strong commitment to the coordination of services and working in a team environment.
    • Knowledge of the special needs found in the LGBTQ population and the evidence based treatment recommended to address these needs.
  • Ability to build relationships and partner with community agencies serving the LGBTQ population to build trust, increase access to mental health services, and increase access to community-based programs and support services. Performance Requirements:

 

  • Evaluate agency processes and procedures to ensure cultural awareness and sensitivity of daily operations.
  • Consistently exercise discretion and judgment in regard to the treatment and services provided to clients
    • Maintain awareness of local resources and maintain an updated listing of resources for agency staff and clients
    • Monitor unmet needs for the LGBTQ population in the Central Ohio area and, when feasible, develop new programming for Syntero to address these unmet needs
    • Effectively market LGBTQ behavioral health services and create new programs and service partnerships that lead to enhanced service delivery models of care.
    • Partner with community agencies serving the LGBTQ population to increase access to mental health services within Syntero to include building outreach mental health services
    • Partner with community agencies to provide space within Syntero for community-based groups to build new services and supports
    • Oversee training of clinical and nonclinical staff to ensure cultural sensitivity and availability of clinical staff to provide evidence based treatment services for LGBTQ clients and their families
    • Represent agency at designated community, partner agency and systems meetings.
    • Effectively market LGBTQ behavioral health services and create new programs and service partnerships that lead to enhanced service delivery models of care.
  • Relationship development with key community stakeholders and contacts to ensure continuity of operations and referral flow to LGBTQ programs

 

    • Chair group supervisions and coordinate staffings at multiple sites.
    • Provide direct service therapeutic interventions at a caseload negotiated with the Director.
    • Provide administrative and clinical supervision to agency clinicians as negotiated with the Director.
  • Coordinate and/or participate in agency committees as appropriate.
