A new partnership between the Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board of Franklin County (ADAMH) and EG America is expanding access to life-saving tools across Franklin County, placing NaloxBox rescue kits in every Turkey Hill and Certified Oil convenience store to help communities respond quickly to opioid overdoses.
The 30 additional kits installed through this effort bring the countywide total to approximately 300. Each NaloxBox contains two doses of naloxone — an easy-to-administer nasal spray that can rapidly reverse an opioid overdose, CPR masks and instructions.
To further support this effort, EG America is partnering with CompDrug, an ADAMH provider that manages training and ongoing maintenance of the NaloxBoxes, to offer training sessions for store managers, ensuring they are prepared to respond in the event of an overdose.

“Everybody frequents gas stations, so it’s really supportive of harm reduction initiatives to have these kits in such a huge chain like Turkey Hill,” said Colleen Hendon, ADAMH State Opioid Response Manager.
The kits are located inside the stores near the restrooms, a placement intentionally selected, according to Kysa Peukert, EG America Health and Safety Specialist.
“We’ve heard stories from managers of overdoses happening in their stores, specifically in and near the bathrooms,” Kysa said. “We wanted to make sure the placement of the kits was deliberate, so they could be accessed immediately.”
Kysa noted that the kits have been well received, with many store managers supporting the initiative and hoping it helps both their teams and customers feel safer in their communities.
“Overdoses are happening in our community, and we want to ensure this resource is accessible,” Kysa said. “Even if it saves just one life, it makes all the difference.”
