Equipping Officers to Respond to Residents in Crisis

The Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board of Franklin County (ADAMH) partners with the Columbus Division of Police and others to provide Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) trainings. CIT is a national best practice for first responders that teaches the signs and symptoms of mental illness and substance misuse.

An advanced CIT training on June 24 was focused on the entirety of the call for service, from initial response to de-escalation and connection to community-based resources and care. This course was offered to individuals who had previously completed the foundational 40-hour CIT program.
