The Marketing and Development Manager position ensures that Mental Health America of Ohio’s outwardly focused messaging and voice are consistent, uplifting, and educational while supporting programmatic and organizational goals. The position works across all areas of the organization in either a lead or supportive role to create, design, and disseminate information and marketing materials. The ideal candidate enjoys working collaboratively with many types of people, is a natural storyteller with a gift for drawing stories out of others, is technologically savvy and skilled at managing multiple projects and competing deadlines simultaneously. The Marketing and Development Manager serves as an enthusiastic writer, content creator, editor, donor cultivator, and brand manager, relying on their strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
SCHEDULE
Work hours are generally 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, flexible based upon work demands and in consultation with supervisor; full-time exempt position. Work setting can be hybrid to include time in office and remote or can be fully in office.

JOB DUTIES
Marketing/Communications
- Manage email newsletter: schedule, curate and write content, and manage distribution system (Mailchimp).
- Manage MHAOhio social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), including creating compelling content, scheduling posts, and monitoring engagement while collaborating with program leads on their programs’ social media needs.
- Monitor analytics, including regular monitoring of MailChimp and social media engagement rates, and prepare reports as needed.
- Design The Advocate print newsletter, e-blasts, agency materials, annual report, website, etc.
- Manage all aspects of MHAOhio’s website, ensuring content is up-to-date and engaging.
- Work with program leads to anticipate and curate content and materials that respond to the cultural needs of those served.
- Track and maintain marketing material inventory.
- Create and monitor the agency’s annual communications plan and calendar.
- Working closely with Director of Marketing and Development and other leadership, develop replicable marketing strategies that support statewide expansion
Development
- Work in conjunction with the Director of Marketing and Development on donor database management and usage
- Support the creation, design, and editing of solicitation letters, appeal letters, thank you letters, and other communications to donors
- Lead the planning and executing the annual Holiday Magic event, which recognizes volunteers, donors, and board members
- Assist with grant research
- Research potential funding opportunities, including individual fundraisers
- Research and identify potential new corporate sponsors
- Manage donor mailing lists
Other
- Participate in agency events and activities
- Other duties, within the reason and scope of the position’s primary duties, may be assigned after consultation with the employee and supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field
- Minimum of three years of work experience in related field
- Able to build rapport and collaborate with a diverse group of people, evaluate information and data, and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
- Graphic design experience
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva graphic design software
- Demonstrated ability to write both short and long-form compelling copy for variety of audiences and purposes
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Passion for mental health and the ability to engage compassionately and respectfully with clients, public figures and community members who share their personal stories
- Valid Ohio driver’s license required within 30 days of hire
Preferred:
- Experience creating video content
- Non-profit and/or health background
- Knowledge of fundraising CRM software
SALARY: $48,000-$55,000 per year, commensurate with experience
