Crisis Assessment Linkage and Management Program (CALM Unit)
Phone: 614.293.9600
Ohio State’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health recently opened eight observation rooms in the emergency department designed to stabilize patients in crisis with the goal of avoiding inpatient hospitalization. The Crisis Assessment Linkage and Management Program uses observation rooms designed like traditional psychiatric care rooms to remove patients from the over-stimulating emergency room.

Who We Are

We primarily serve adult patients with mental and addictive disorders at our two hospital campuses, several outpatient locations, and via telehealth. We offer multiple levels of care, including: groups, individual outpatient, intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization, inpatient psychiatric and withdrawal management care, immediate care, and psychiatric emergency services embedded in our emergency departments. All offer medication management, including medications for addiction treatment. Our outpatient and school-based programs also treat youth with behavioral health needs.
